Book of Celebration

We’re aware that some people couldn’t make it to the memorial service in Liverpool. We set up this online book of celebration to give anyone a chance to share their memories of Colin and his music, along with any messages for the family.

We have now closed the Book of Celebration to new entries but all previous entries remain below to view.

589 entries.

So sad your life was cut so very short, so much music still in your soul. You know when you like something, you can never get enough of it.. I remember a Black show in Brussels, in the late 80s, a sold out affair. I was a bit of a snob new wave girl, this was a bit of a guilty pleasure, but oh boy, what fun I had - and I knew all the songs! I am so happy and proud I supported and pledged your new album on which the song Parade is my favourite. I sometimes watch the videos on the Pledge site again, the promises, the ideas for the future, just not fair. I will miss you. Sending my love and gentle thoughts to your wife and sons. Fare well, Colin, wherever you are xx

I first heard Colin's music in 1986 and then saw him in concert at The Cambridge Corn Exchange in the late 80's. A great gig by a truly gifted songwriter. You can't help but be drawn to artistry of this kind. Much of the "manufactured" music of today can't compare to Colin's gifted approach. Best wishes to all his family and close friends. Here's to a Wonderful Life...!!! :-)

When I was 12 or 13 years old, I fell in love with you and your music. And since then, everytime I listened to your songs, they reminded me of those days, especially summer days, the sea, that amazing feeling of freedom and romanticism. They still do, and they always will. You are a very important part of my life, of me, and so, I'm never going to let you go. You'll always be with me. Thank you for everything you make me feel.
