Book of Celebration

We’re aware that some people couldn’t make it to the memorial service in Liverpool. We set up this online book of celebration to give anyone a chance to share their memories of Colin and his music, along with any messages for the family.

We have now closed the Book of Celebration to new entries but all previous entries remain below to view.

589 entries.

Love and best wishes to Colin's family and friends. We would have loved to make the journey from Cornwall to Liverpool to pay our respects and thank Colin for the music that has been there in our lives for all theses years but work commitments would not allow it. Rest in Peace. Xxxx

"Are we having fun yet?" was the soundtrack of my summer I was sixteen and I returned to it over the years. I wish he could have had more time and I wish his friends and family all the strenght and patience possible. I was a child when I first heard him with Everything's Coming up Roses and Wonderful Life; coming across a part from a German documentary the other day I realised now that the handsome, grown-up, adult man was only in his early twenties. He's been a model of gentleness and authenticity to me through his music. I hope it helps his family to know to how many lives he brought some of that beauty through his work. Love to you all.

I am so excited and deeply saddened to be attending this event today. I still remember shaking Colin's hand and telling him how proud I was to be given the opportunity to meet my childhood hero. Never has any singer/songwriter composed music that has reached so far into my soul as Colin's music.....'You're a big girl now', 'Too many times', 'This is life', 'Where the river bends', Water on snow', 'Beautiful', 'Stone Soup'...to name but a handful of gems that Colin has gifted us with for posterity. I thanked Colin in person for the gift of his music and now want to thank him in person by walking between two churches to this memorial. Thank you Colin and lots of love and best wishes for to your family, all of your friends and of course all of us fans whom you counted as friends xxxxxx lots of love from Matt and Alexandra Pryer and our girls Dily and Isabel who've heard Wonderful Life thousands of times!

It's difficult to think that I won't get to see Colin perform again, and there won't be any new music. I was planning to take my daughter to the gig last December but life got in the way. So sad to lose one of our greatest singer song writers and a genuine nice bloke. RIP

You're music was the sound track to summer holidays spent at home as a young teenager. Playing monopoly with my sister and stealing chocolate galaxy bars from the 'hidden' stash in the kitchen. End of an era. Your songs made me happy. Thank you for that X

I remember Colin's first appearance on Top of the Pops. I was totally mesmerised by his incredible voice. I rang my friend straight after to see if she'd seen it! Wonderful man who wrote wonderful songs. I think the world he's gone on to will be a better place because of him. May your family always remember the good times and not the last days of your life. They were privileged to have shared your time with you. God bless them and you xx

Still feeling the loss of a fine talent and by all accounts a good man. This memorial befits the loss of a fine artist gone too soon. Sympathies to Colin's family and closest friends; I was but a follower yet feel it too.

I can't still believe one of my most admired artists of all time is not here anymore. Some of my best moments are binded to many of his songs. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Very sad moment, but happy we've been and forever will be to enjoy his great sensibility as an artist, and I guess as a man too
