We’re aware that some people couldn’t make it to the memorial service in Liverpool. We set up this online book of celebration to give anyone a chance to share their memories of Colin and his music, along with any messages for the family.

Colin, your music has been there for me throughout most of my childhood my youth and ever since then through my adult years. It has made happy moments brighter, anchored memories in my heart and lightened up the dark stretches by reminding me my dreams were still alive. You have given me so much. All I could do in return was to wish you well from afar and hope you were happy. Now that you have crossed over, I send you my gratitude and love. Shed all weight and travel on with renewed spirits into a place of light, love and freedom. Goodbye, Colin.

If you measure success not in terms of chart positions but of how many people someone has truly reached and touched, making a difference to their lives and leaving indelible traces on their souls, then Colin must have made it to the very top of the pops by a comfortable margin.
I’m still a bit puzzled by how much his loss gets to me although I didn’t even properly know him. And yet I’m profoundly sad, thinking about him all the time. Colin succeeded enormously well in establishing a bond, through his songs, with those who listened, offering glimpses into his beautiful soul. And of course meeting him at one of his concerts only confirmed the impression of him being an extraordinarily kind and thoughtful man without any airs and graces.
The mere possibility of new songs coming from him made my life richer, filling it with a sense of anticipation. At least the memories and emotions linked to Colin’s musical legacy can’t be taken away, they’ll always be a part of me.
Thank you to everyone at Black HQ for setting up this Book for those who can’t be at the service tonight. Wishing his family and friends solace and strength.

I feel so sorry for this loss...I got to "find" Colin again, after a long period of loosing track and the emptyness is so deep especialy since I realised that all this time he had kept writting and singing and the moment I managed to "find" him and felt so glad and lucky...... we lose him for good...

Thank you Colin, for many years of making beautiful memories while listening to your songs, you were truly gifted in writing meaningful and heartfelt lyrics and singing them with a voice that was sure to have come from God, Rest in peace you wonderful man, and know that your legacy will live on, I have passed on my love for your music to my daughters whom I know will do the same to their children, new generations that will spread the word of how your songs can make them feel, I listen and am transported back to 87, I am 18 and have my whole life ahead of me, I am now 47 and it's strange how 1 track can just transport you back in an instant to a time and place long gone!!
You will be missed, watching you perform on stage was magical and I was lucky to have witnessed it for myself.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones, I hope they gain strength from the knowledge that you were loved in all corners of this world and that you touched the hearts of people who listened xx
