We’re aware that some people couldn’t make it to the memorial service in Liverpool. We set up this online book of celebration to give anyone a chance to share their memories of Colin and his music, along with any messages for the family.
We have now closed the Book of Celebration to new entries but all previous entries remain below to view.

A great loss to the musical life of myself and all of his fans, Colin will be sorely missed. I had the pleasure of meeting Colin last year in Otley and got to thank him in person for the years of pleasure his music has given me. So glad I had that opportunity.
You were my first crush in the eighties, we spent hours listening to the Wonderful Life album. So sorry you're gone, sleep well
Tu música me ha acompañado toda mi vida, y lo seguirá haciendo para siempre.
Colin and his music are part of my life since 1986, when I first saw him on tv. Since Wonderful Life I always listen to his music and the beautiful lyrics. There's no other singer/songwriter who can create such beautiful songs. I have met Colin in London and will always remember this special evening. I will miss you so much, can't believe you are gone......so sad.
My thoughts are with his family, Camilla and his boys. Wishing you all the strenght and love to go on.
Love U forever Colin. Sleep well. X

Fly up to the moon.
Du warst einer meiner Helden in meiner Kindheit und Jugend, ein Idol was mich selbst in meiner musikalischen Entwicklung geprägt hat. Es ist so traurig, das du gegangen bist. Unvergessen. R.I.P. Black
Colin's gig at Theatre Royal in Glasgow in 1987 was my first music show. He remains an inspiration to many, taken too soon. R.I.P.
I played and often sang This is Life to my wee girl and told her to listen well Thank you x
I remember from my youth while visiting my family in Denmark I used to drive around in the countryside with Black always playing on my car stereo, songs like I Can Laugh About it now, Wonderful Life, Wishing You Were Here, Liquid Dream and everything else. It was a way to get by myself and just relax with that wonderful music accompanying me. And his music has stayed with me, so atmospheric, emotional and lyrics I could and can identify. I honour the memory of this great artist and man.
Please, for anyone who could not attend tonight, let there be someone who captured Camilla and Max singing an astounding rendition of Fly Up to the Moon.
Courage, grace and class in the face of extreme emotion. Nobody can be unmoved by such a performance. Thank you so much.

Solo las personas que tocan el ama de otras con su personalidad y su "duende" son las que viven para siempre entre nosotros y nuestros corazones. Imborrables. Únicos.

Since I saw for the first time in a video Everything's Coming Up Roses "in a TV program. Here in Chile the year 87-88 to which was in first place I've ever been with Colin his sudden loss has left me with a broken heart and a sense of loneliness ... but he still goes with us with his wonderful legacy that is its music, the remote can not be physically but if my mind and following each time any news as now My condolences to all his family and friends to really appreciate ... May God give peace!
Such a sad loss to British music. As a musician I think the your first LP is a masterpiece, and I never tire of listening to it. RIP Colin.
I am at a loss for the right words that befits this moment. Colin's musical talent was enormous, and his lyrics were like those of a philosopher: his talents moved me greatly in a positive direction. "All credibility, all good conscience, all evidence of truth, comes only from the senses" , F Nietzche.
My very favorite of all of Colin's beautiful songs is "This is Life" from his album "Black" It moves me more every time I hear it.
May you rest in peace. Thank you for the wonderful music. You'll be deeply missed. Prayers for your family and friends who mourn so much more than just the angelic voice coming from the speakers of an ancient record player.
Wonderful Colin Vearncombe !
